THE HEART HAS REASONS THAT REASON KNOWS NOT OF!

Academy Awards AKA The Oscars

For so many months I have been thinking about something, only in the absolute leisure times, about the great grand movies not appearing in the Oscar winner list. What to speak of any other when” The Shawshank Redemption” is not there!!!

On the other hand you see movies distinguished as Oscar winners and something deep in your heart seems to disagree forcefully.

I questioned my self Whys ? Hows? etc and finally come to a conclusion which may or may not be accurate but its my best guess.

The problem with the academy award is its 1/year methodology. The grand technical award has a very weak non-tech basis. It actually asses the movies released in a fiscal year relative to each other and not to a well defined, delineated standard. Say one specific year we have 2 or three or even four or more grand movies drawing public and critics attention. Now the academy has deprived itself from honoring all of them but one. Yes I can Give you a year when it happened. Check out the 1994 nominations!

The Shawshank Redemption,

Forrest Gump,

Pulp Fiction,

The legends of the fall!(not even nominated for any thing but cinmatography )

Three of them could not won!!

Had these been released in different years they would have all won.

My suggestion to The Academy is that they should change there methodology and develop a defined standard (may be An Academy Code like ASME Codes)to test the movies. If we have a 1994 the award goes to all of them and if we have a DRY year the academy should keep quiet!

These are strange awards. AFI rates Citizen Kane as THE BEST EVER! The Academy says it was not best even in the year of its release 1941.! All the hype and grandeur of the award tumbles down to ground when we see the list of Pictures and Performances who never won the Oscar( keeping in mind some of those who did!)

Here is a list of the very best of  both!
